KELLY’S ANIMAL THERAPY CIC
Company Number 16126790
Who are we?
The four of us have been inspired by the wonderful work undertaken by Kelly’s Donkeys Ltd., as its rescued, rehabilitated, and trained donkeys and other animals deliver therapy to a wide range of individuals and institutions.
We therefore created Kelly’s Animal Therapy CIC, a Somerset-based, registered company, legally required to operate in compliance with its defined charitable status. As unpaid directors, our focus is wholly upon raising funds to enable Kelly’s Donkeys to increase its valuable therapeutic work.
What are the benefits of animal assisted therapy?
Animal assisted therapy is recognised as providing physical exercise, friendship, mood boosting, emotional support, reduced anxiety, improved communication skills, coping mechanisms, management of long-term conditions, and aiding recovery from trauma.
Who meets the animals?
Kelly’s Donkeys takes the animals out to support children and adults with additional needs, the disabled, those with long-term health conditions, those needing emotional support, disadvantaged families, those managing trauma, schools, hospitals, hospices, prisoners, the bereaved and those directed to this form of support by healthcare providers and mental health professionals.
What is the impact?
Last year, Kelly’s Donkeys Ltd. spent £50,000 bringing 800 hours of animal therapy to 8,000 people across the country.
Working alongside Kelly’s Donkeys, we are all about bringing smiles to the faces of people coping with difficulties in their lives - and we want to enable Kelly’s Donkeys to do a great deal more.
Demand is great and increasing, but those most able to benefit from animal assisted therapy are frequently least able to meet its cost in whole or in part. We created the CIC, working closely with, but separate from, Kelly’s Donkeys Ltd., to help as many people as possible.
The CIC directors are legally required to channel all funds raised into the provision of animal therapy. Every pound helps, whether helping to subsidise individuals or institutions, or to purchase essential equipment.
How can you help?
Please do what you can to help us.
Every pound will make a difference.
Thank you for your interest and support
